National Premiere of a New Work
Beyond the Dark written by Zoe Niklas and directed by Terry D. Kester will be presented at the Charbonneau Clubhouse Feb. 15, 16, & 17 at 7:30 pm.
Beyond the Dark is based on Niklas' acclaimed book: Driving in the Dark, A Childhood Memoir. This collaborative effort was spearheaded by Niklas, developed and directed by Terry D. Kester.
Set in the 1960's, Beyond the Dark is a memoir about Niklas' desperate struggle to escape her charismatic but abusive mother, Zodie. Trapped in her mother's horrifying world of addictions, violence and delusional fantasies and abandoned by social services, 11 year-old Niklas sets out to find a home with a family who will give her the love and security she so desperatelly needs, but her mother has a different end in mind.
Zoe Niklas is an author, actress, playwright, and an accomplished inspirational speaker who often speaks about Foster care, adoption and overcoming trauma. She and Terry D. Kester, a professional producer, director, author and Artistic Director of WilsonvilleSTAGE are dellighted to work together after their initial working together in, A View From the Bridge, The Cemetery Club and The Laramie Project. Niklas is performing this one woman show and Kester is directing.
